The most memorable night you can spend in Chitwan. After local transport and a 40-minute guided walk through the community forest, you reach a wooden tower (machan) built at the edge of the river. Dinner is served on the deck as the forest goes quiet – listen for deer alarm calls, owls and, if you are lucky, a rhino moving below.
Rooms are basic: beds with mosquito nets, a fan, solar lights and shared toilets. A guide and a ranger stay with you all night. Next morning, breakfast in the tower and a walk back with your guide.
