Best Time to Visit Chitwan National Park (Month by Month)
October to March for cool, clear days; February to May for the best wildlife sightings; June to September for green, quiet, low-season prices.

Chitwan is a year-round destination, but each season is different.
October to November: the best all-round season
Clear skies after the monsoon, green forest and comfortable temperatures (25–30 °C by day). It's the busiest period, especially around Dashain and Tihar, so book rooms early.
December to February: cool, misty and great for birds
Mornings are foggy and cold (around 8–10 °C), afternoons sunny and pleasant. Winter migrant birds arrive. Bring a warm jacket for early safaris.
February to May: the best wildlife sightings
Villagers cut the tall grass in February, opening up the views, and as it gets hotter animals gather at rivers and waterholes. Tiger and rhino sightings peak, but by May it can reach 38–40 °C – plan safaris early and late, with the pool in between.
June to September: monsoon green season
Heavy rain usually falls in short bursts. The jungle is lush, prices are lower and it's quiet. Some park areas and jungle walks may be closed in July and August, but canoe rides, village tours and many jeep routes still run.
